The New Ancient Way of Living

For the Youth of Today

January 2009

Kevin and Donna Johnson

Getting It Together in Your Own Life

It’s time for a revolution, an inner rebellion where those who have the preconditions of heart and mind will courageously break out of the bondage of this present dying civilization and take back their own sovereignty. Twelve years ago there was little more than a deep urging in my spirit, an inner call to find my way back to living in alignment with what I felt was right. I had come to the place where life seemed like an endless wheel of frustration and purposelessness. But by applying myself and learning just a few basic skills, I gained the self-assurance that I needed. This is what shifted my focus away from being just a mindless consumer to an active creative person.

My hope is that any young person in their formative teen years or in their early 20’s who may be reading these words right now will pay close attention to what I have to say. This is it!  It is time to get your life together. It is time now to eliminate debt and learn how to do things that are practical and essential to making your life work, so that you can pass it on to the next generation.

Our present civilization is like a lost child. It is rapidly losing the ancient knowledge because of our society’s unconscious addiction to digital technology. The technology that has been developed over the last 30 years (satellites, cell phones, computers, and bio-medical manipulation, chemical food additives, vaccinations, hybridization of seeds, on and on) is not wicked in itself; the problem is that most of the time, it has been technology without love, without respect for human life and the planet.  This is bringing about severe consequences that are altering the natural flow of humanity’s physical & spiritual development.

For instance, because of the growing experimental advances in communication and military technology many of our young children these days are fast becoming hyperactive, fidgety, complacent and neurotic. And school teachers will testify that behavioral problems are more commonplace than ever before, often as a direct result of too much contact with cell phone radiation, exposure to the rapid flickering sequences from television screens & interactive digital games, impure water, childhood vaccinations, artificial additives such as high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, fried fast foods and an overall lack of contact with the natural elements. These hazards are causing dangerous disconnection and disruption within the cellular and biological processes of our children’s developing bodies.

I’ve seen 5 and 6 year olds who don’t even know how to go outside and play, much less sit still for five minutes without a television on. Now parents have provided video players in the car! When I was a kid, we looked outside the window. Now they are miserable unless they’re constantly being entertained. This is a complete turnaround from the way kids behaved 2 generations ago. And it’s all leading to an overall physical and mental weakening of the human species.

If you do not educate yourself on the importance of the ancient knowledge, you cannot preserve and pass it on to the next generation after you. There will only be a small percentage of people who will consider it important enough to read this and an even smaller percentage that will actively apply it to their own lives. But for these few rare individuals, this information will make a tremendous difference in the quality of their lives in the years to come. It is this fundamental knowledge on how to get yourself in alignment with the flow of all life that will free you from the bondage and mind control that is presently being perpetuated openly on the world population.

There are tremendous changes happening in the world today. It is already underway. Some will see it, some will not. But what matters is that we recognize that we each have a choice. The only thing that is essentially wrong in the world today is these two things: ignorance of the ancient wisdom and false values.

1. What is the ancient wisdom that past civilizations learned and sought to preserve generation after generation?

The ancient knowledge is that there are three principle forces within man that connect him with the Unity of Life. These are known as the triune aspect of man: Body, Spirit, Mind. Ancient people often symbolized this trinity as three streams (forces) known respectively as Power (sun), Love (water) & Wisdom (air).

So why is this important? The more you can increase your daily relationship with these forces while minimizing your reliance on unhealthy forms of technology the more access you’ll have to that vast, invisible, intelligible sphere, a realm of universal mind known as the superior currents of thought.  The wisest and most advanced civilizations, past and present, understand deeply that external technology weakens and cuts you off from this life-force presence. Technology is a crutch, an addiction that easily distracts one from the present moment, closing the doorway to higher knowledge, independent thought and freedom. If a person wants to control others, all they have to do is get them addicted and reliant on something outside themselves.

Therefore, the more you can step away from an overuse, or physical and emotional reliance on computers, cell phones, video games and television and involve yourselves in real, face to face relationships with actual people, the more you will begin to appreciate and interact with the beauty of nature. You’ll tap into and become more conscious of the natural life force energy around you. This is why we recommend strongly that people learn and share practical skills and participate in creative forms of art (such as herbal healing, gardening, woodworking, music, painting, craftsmanship, etc.) because they open the mind and heart to higher levels of consciousness, collective memory, expanded perception, and most of all, spiritual connection with the Unity of all life.

It is that simple. You must understand this and consider it with all your mind and soul until it becomes the number one priority in your life. Donna and I created the EarthStar website to demonstrate and perpetuate this discovery, that each one of us has the potential for experiencing boundless contact with higher possibilities. And this is what will ultimately lead people toward true satisfaction and profound meaning in life.

2. What are the true values of life?  The true values are those things that support and sustain natural, organic life: sunshine, pure water, clean air, healthy soil, pure food from the earth, creative work and an appreciation for the beauty of nature. The brotherhood of the ancient Essenes considered these seven essentials the foundation of life and honored them on each of the seven days of the week.

If we do not seek to foster awareness and contact with these natural elements and make them part of our daily experience, we will sow the seeds of disconnection leading to unimaginable suffering and grim consequences for the next generation. This is already happening around the world through senseless starvation, war, religious fanaticism, violence, political corruption, child sex slavery and so forth.

False values are the excesses in life, a love for the things that aren’t important, the unnecessary material possessions, the vast fortunes and wealth people generate in promoting the overuse of addictive technologies (genetically modified foods, non-sustainable agriculture, designer drugs, luxury cars, nuclear bombs, implantable microchips, bio-nanobots). These things are a crime against humanity, especially in a world where thousands of children die each day from contaminated water, impure food and inadequate shelter. False values cut you off from the life-giving energy of the planet.  These unhealthy vises and destructive habits have come to replace the true values.

False values are born out of ignorance, when ordinary people become entranced and enraptured by secular scientific corporations that seek to manipulate and disrupt the natural world and which have nothing to do with enriching the simple basics of life.

False values are fashioned when charismatic religious fanatics manipulate and deceive desperate people by telling them that it is mandatory to give money to some religious organization or God will not bless them. Whenever poor people feel cut off from their own life-energy and don’t feel complete within themselves, they tend to seek outside for relief in the form over-eating, pleasure-inducing chemicals, fundamentalism, sexual promiscuity, pornography, electronic gadgets, television, loud music, (the possibilities are endless), instead of turning to the natural forces and nurturing a spirit of creative work. All of this ignorance is inherent whenever one’s rightful connection with natural life is severed.

And finally, false values are evident in our present government’s policy of printing money which has caused hyper-inflation. It’s apparent in the large stately homes of people who unwisely over-borrowed on mortgage loans they couldn’t pay, creating the recent real estate meltdown, or all the uneconomical new vehicles manufactured which led to a government bail-out of the car industry. False values manifest in the propagation of worthless techno-gadgets and seductive violent video games that young couples feel they have to buy for their young children (with money they don’t really have), instead of simply spending quality time with them teaching them how to do practical skills such as baking bread, gardening, sewing, fishing, or making things with their hands.

The new revolution has to come soon; it is really very easy to implement. Eventually it will happen because the world cannot continue on its present course. We cannot keep exploiting resources or keep on seeking endless economic growth and making plastic junk or appliances that don’t last more than a couple of years. This revolution will have to be taken up by individual young people through a primary shift in lifestyle principles. They have to come to a point where they realize it is time to reject the models of material expansion that have been promoted and force-fed into them by dishonest bureaucrats, insatiable corporations, heartless medical industries, misleading religious leaders and insane military officials. But it won’t happen if we can’t see past the veils of ignorance and false values. What we don’t learn from wisdom, we’ll learn from woe.

For example, I was talking to a 27 year old girl the other day. She was complaining bitterly that the system was failing her, saying that her husband had lost his job and hadn’t been able to find anything but part time work for six months. She said her hope was to quit her job and have a baby. But now their plans have to change. They can’t make their car payment and it is getting difficult to come up with the rent each month. As she talked, I could see clearly that she was trapped within an archetype that wasn’t holding together any longer, an old model that has ensnared many people. It says, ‘life is good as long as I can expand, all I need is more money, more money…’ If she and her husband don’t consciously seek to get out of this kind of thinking, they are going to continue to suffer disappointment and hardship. That is the way it is.

The fact is the United States is bankrupt. Jobs are not coming back anytime soon. Wall Street has been taken over by criminal banking cartels who are manipulating the stock market, making it appear healthy while keeping the price of real commodities such as gold and silver down. Many U.S. Corporations have already closed their doors and have moved overseas to exploit a new economic frontier, cheap labor from people in developing countries.

Those who believe that the development of green technologies is going to create a new wave of economic abundance here at home are in for a rude awakening. It may happen eventually, but it won’t happen anytime soon. There are not enough resources on the planet for people to keep expanding materially. The latest estimate is that it would take the resources of at least 3 or 4 earths just to keep up with the rate of expansion and waste currently happening on the planet.

Only those persons who have the wisdom to see what is happening are going to be able to make the kind of wise choices that will lead to a satisfying life. The young girl I mentioned above will have to understand that the system she values is crumbling and is not sustainable. What she and her husband need to realize is that they must eventually address their basics of life first.

When they are both out of work, how are they going to eat? Where are they going to live? How will they get water? How will they keep warm? Homelessness is growing exponentially in America as more people face job cuts and foreclosures. As time goes on, this young couple will find it difficult to rent a life. Currently, for every job that becomes available, there are 6 to 8 people competing for it. Even if and when he finds a full time job again, the odds are that his salary will not be enough to keep up their present level of expenditures, especially in this hyper-inflated economy.

Food, fuel and insurance costs are going to continue to rise even higher than they are now. Therefore, the strategy I would recommend is that these young people consider taking whatever odd jobs are available while they can, work for cash and begin to radically downsize their spending. Forget having a career. The opportunity to settle in to a career is over for many people. Earning a lot of money is only going to happen for a few. The majority of people are going to get poorer while the fat cats get their greedy paws into whatever is left.

This situation is happening all over the country. I know because I receive hundreds of letters each year from people who stumble across our website, basically expressing the same thing, “We’re not making it, how do we get out of debt and build a place in the country? How are we going to afford health insurance? How will we pay back our student loans if we can’t find jobs? How do we grow food when we can’t own a piece of land?” These are the kinds of questions that we receive over and over.

Trends Forecaster, Gerald Celente writes: Small is Big! Unlike the years of personal prosperity and business growth, long perceived a birthright - today, as America’s fortunes dwindle, its people will be forced to adjust attitudes and alter practices to compensate for the losses.  Although the oncoming national downsizing trend may be a blow to egos and painful to pocketbooks, if intelligently deployed and spiritually practiced, the “Small is Big” trend can lead to more progressive advancement and greater rewards than the supersizing trend that has been consuming so much of the nation”.

It’s time for a spiritual revolution, a radical upheaval in the old false values still prevalent in our society. I don’t have any easy answers that I can magically pull out of my hat. People must understand that the real problem is that they are attached to a structure that’s no longer working. The playing field has changed. The rules of the game have been thrown out and now a completely new strategy is required. But as long as people keep thinking “I just need to make more money” or “I’ll just go back to college and get my degree” they are missing the intelligence of the ancient knowledge which is this:

Those who will prosper will be the ones who value simple living. Simple Living is the new abundance! Therefore, downsize immediately. Work any kind of temporary odd job you can get. Stop using your credit card! Cultivate an appreciation for the basics of life. Cherish simple, whole foods, homemade bread, vegetables, fresh eggs, fruit, clean water, fresh air, and sunshine. Real wealth is perishable. There are billions of people in the world who don’t even have these basic elements.

If you are young and have the opportunity, and can afford it, get out to the country. If you can find a remote piece of property in a poor county, your taxes will be less and you can often get by without the hassle of permits.  Build yourself a small cabin. Start with something small such as 12’ x 12’ single room with a loft. Almost anyone who is in reasonably good health should be able to construct a simple shelter. Do this as soon as possible.  The time is coming where it will be almost impossible for poor people to get a loan for a small piece of property. Read Chapter 12 in our book, the Subtle Way & It’s Power. It is free on our website at: www.earthstar.newlibertyvillage.com

Throw out all the frills that you can’t afford. Get rid of cable or satellite television if you have too. Reduce bills. Drastically cut expenditures. Find other ways to enjoy your time: garden, take long walks, learn a craft, play music, paint. Cut off the internet. (We don’t have the internet, we use the computer at the local library.) Sell all your vehicles and just keep one. Reduce your car insurance to less coverage if possible. Shift from thinking that you are stuck. You must realize that you have options. Look for them. The most important plan is that you learn practical skills, such as simple carpentry, basic wiring, plumbing, simple cooking, composting, small scale gardening, or inside gardening. Again, see our book for more information. (Also, see the section, Practical Tips on Radical Downsizing and Thinking Small in an article on our website entitled, The EarthStar Project: 12 Years and Still Making It.)

The point is you have to access your own inner guidance. It is there to inspire you. As long as you are filling your life up with things that disrupt the biological process of your body, you’ll remain cut off from the Superior Thought Currents. The present system is melting down. And even if the government successfully continues to hold it together for a few more years, the reality is that it’s still going to unravel because we are living within an economic and political climate that is still based on war, greed, corruption, bio-tech engineering and countless unsustainable policies.

Past civilizations have learned this before. Many Native American’s have stories within their traditions about their ancestors possessing magical abilities (technologies) that caused devastation, and so they believed it was crucial to stay in alignment with nature. As a result, they were often some of the most spiritually mature people.

We were able to get out of bondage because we were willing to rethink our philosophy about what is important. The vision for our EarthStar project began 17 years ago. But it still took 5 years to get debt free before we could even purchase a piece of land, and then another 4 years of going to work to pay it off while slowly building a modest cabin. There is no quick fix. Life is a journey that requires good judgment, patience and trust.

Our hope is that the simple living revolution will be taken up individually, that a percentage of young people will radically turn their lives around. Never before has a generation gotten so entangled with student loan and credit card debt as this one has. The “free money” seduction has been an insidious, clever manipulation, designed to knock the wind out of the sails of young people, leaving them disadvantaged and weakened before they can get a fair chance at life. Even if you cannot get your own small homestead out in the country, there are many things you can do right away.

First of all, start where you are by getting rid of as much stuff you can. Sell or give away at least one third of what you own. You’ve got to lighten your material possessions so you can focus on developing the skills you will need when you can get on your own. If you can have a yard sale and raise some cash, use it to pay off some debt. That alone would be a great start.

Second, start developing some personal, one-on-one relationship skills. It is very important to work on yourself in a way that can only be done through real-life relationships (not through cell phones, email, or online in chat rooms). This is an area where so many people are lacking. In past generations people valued visiting, networking and socializing, which strengthened a sense of community and ensured that they received care and support from each other. The world that is unfolding will require that people regain this skill once more.  Small communities will inevitably become vitally necessary for survival.

And finally, clean up your diet. Drink at least a quart of filtered water a day. Eliminate all processed foods. Eat as much raw vegetable or fresh fruit as you can instead of cooked foods. And start eating more whole grains. Learn to bake bread. That’s a good way to make friends.

The time is now to start a new simple living movement. John Mayer sang, “Waiting on the world to change,” but it’s not going to change unless we start a grass roots movement with a new set of values! Go within and get in touch with your own intelligent guidance. Those who want to transition into another world system need to begin as soon as possible, cultivating the kinds of relationships and groups that will support each individual toward independent freedom.

Getting Clear about Life’s Purpose

If there was ever a time for the next generation to catch the wisdom of the ancient knowledge, it’s now. About a year ago I subscribed to a publication called Ode for Intelligent Optimists (odemagazine.com). It’s got some great articles about real people doing things to help the planet, innovative people with big and small ideas, setting up green businesses, or just doing some benevolent work, trying to make a positive difference. I don’t have any quarrel with any of that; the problem is still one of grass roots, a need for fundamental, individual lifestyle changes. Many people featured in that magazine are entrepreneurs and have a lot of money.  They seem to naively believe that the present economic system is going to be able to manufacture and spend its way out of trouble. That’s just not true. There are a lot of people who are being left behind because they don’t have any money!

Let me tell you about a man I used to work with. He and his wife had been working for many years at a successful engineering company. They were both high salaried employees, both with healthy portfolios, vested in the company’s 401K retirement savings plan, heavily invested in the stock market. And their net worth was several million dollars! They had even started an investment account for their two daughters (who were 12 and 14) which was already worth about a million dollars each! He was telling me about all the money he had and so I asked him what the daughters were going to do with that money and he said, “Well that’s for them to go to college, of course.”

So I said, “Why don’t you give them the money when they turn 19 or 20 and help them buy a little piece of property and build a small house. Then they would be pretty much set up for the rest of their lives. They could just work part time, learn to garden, or develop some kind of skill or craft? They could take college classes later on in life if they want. They’d be free and never have to rely on a career.”

He told me that was the stupidest idea he’d ever heard because they wouldn’t be able to achieve “real success” or wealth without a good college education and a satisfying career (that same old expansion model, make more money, make more money). Well eventually, after a couple of years, the stock market suffered a huge drop right after 9-11 and all of his investments were drastically reduced by several hundred thousand dollars. He was really upset and so when I asked him, “Why don’t you take the penalty and get that money out now and put it in a certificate of deposit (which was paying around 5% at the time, or buy some gold (which was only about $400 an ounce)?” He said, quite snippily, that those interest rates were too low and that he had complete faith that the market was going to recover.

A couple of years ago, I heard he had developed cancer and hadn’t been able to work for several months. He was only 49 years old. His wife became ill too. And she had to quit the company and stay home. They had dipped heavily into their savings just to keep up their house payment, medical bills, car payments, etc. The girls, both in college, about to graduate, were troubled that they wouldn’t be able to find a job in today’s market. Much of their assets have since been stripped away.

What I would like to do in this article is just lay out a simple lifestyle strategy for those who are looking for a realistic alternative, an approach that is going to have real impact on the quality of one’s life. So how can a young person hope to ever achieve self-reliance, good health and satisfactory relationships when there is no one to learn from or emulate? There are very few people in our country who see the intelligence of a lifestyle of voluntary simplicity and independent thinking. It still seems to me that one of the worst things that will happen over the course of the next several years is that there isn’t going to be enough people who really know how to do anything. A large number of people have become so specialized in their particular field of study or work that they have become inefficient in other areas of their lives. This is especially true for many young people who have grown up jacked-in to digital or electronic technologies (cell phones, internet, video games, microwave meals, IPOD’s, Blackberries, who knows what else down the line…) Few of them lack the capacity or genuine interest to even learn how to do real things that promote primal reinforcement.

Primal reinforcement is simply doing things for yourself rather than seeking an expert to do them for you. Generally, most people are engaged in secondary reinforcement, which is the path of earning money at a job so that you can pay someone else to provide primal reinforcement for you. The best example I can give is this: instead of working at a job to earn money to buy a loaf of bread, you work only long enough to earn enough cash to buy wheat and then bake your own bread and then you’ll have a surplus to either trade, sell or give to others.

We get letters all the time from people who say they want to live out in the country, build a small cabin, raise a garden and a few chickens or goats, and bake bread and so forth. The majority of them have big plans for complicated solar arrays, elaborate alternative technological solutions and expensive house plans, but the question they ask is, “how do I get around all the restrictions and permits”.  My answer is always the same, “You are thinking too big. Think small, don’t take out a loan to build anything, do the work yourself, pay cash as you go, and don’t tell anybody what you’re doing.” To me that is primary reinforcement, doing things for yourself. Once you acquire a small, comfortable little paid for homestead with all the basics necessary for a healthy life, then you can think about expanding if you so desire and have the means to do it. In other words, downgrade first, upgrade later.

Unless you are currently independently wealthy, you might have to achieve your freedom by the willingness to live rough and “campy” as we did for a few years. In the beginning, we bought a 16 ft. dome tent to live in while we built a 10’x12’ shed with a sleeping loft.  We lived in the shed while building our 500 sq. ft. cabin on the pay-as-you-go plan. (Read about how we did it in our free on-line book, The Subtle Way and Its’ Power.)

We had to do it the long hard way because in our youth, we participated in the current model of ignorance and false values and it didn’t work for us.  It let us down, as it has for so many young people today.  We ended up with nothing, in poor health, bankruptcy and divorce and had to start over.  That’s when we discovered the priceless treasure of a basic primal lifestyle in harmony with the forces of nature.  That is the foundation for real wealth and we set out to prove it for ourselves.  It works! (See our article, “The EarthStar Project:  12 Years and Still Making It”, on our website)

With all the information on the Internet, if a person can read, they can learn how to do just about anything. But many people lack the gumption to just boldly jump in and do it. That wasn’t a problem for me. After working many years at a stressful job in industrial drafting and ending up with nothing but credit card debt, layoffs and homelessness, I came to the point in my own personal evolution where I began to value the wisdom of simplicity. And I think this is what the next generation is going to have to come to grips with if they are going to truly survive what is unfolding in the world today.

There are economic, social, political and environmental problems brewing dangerously all around us. And the only realistic solution for the average person is to take control of their own lives and choose to live modestly and in alignment with a greater purpose, harmonizing with the plan of the planet. Technological conveniences have their place, certainly, but reliance on them is not only unwise, they are unsustainable and unavailable to everyone.

For every technological solution that someone promotes or sells, there is an opposite effect that causes someone else down the line to have to do without. It is simply the way things are. The only realistic and ethical approach that ultimately works is to live in accordance with the plan of the planet, which is to cultivate individual small scale, sustainable biodiversity through organic gardening. This means that we voluntarily modify our lifestyles, setting up a simple homestead where we can survive without reliance on modern conveniences. As long as electricity is available, go ahead and use it, but be sure to set up a way to function without it for an extended period of time. Reduce consumption and recycle, and start producing as much of our own food and fuel as possible - network locally with neighbors, keeping capital close to home instead of trying to create enterprises that seek to raise profits abroad.

Needing less and producing what you can is the greatest skill one must master in the times that are coming. Those who want more than they really need are going to suffer hardship, both economically and spiritually.  Herein is the wisdom of the ancient knowledge. Mankind has been on this planet a long time. There have been civilizations which have risen and fallen for a long time too. Indigenous people have always known that after a civilization rises to its peak in population and uses up the available resources in a certain area, it begins to decline and goes through a period of rapidly dying off. At this time in human history, our present civilization is once again entering that cycle. It is a natural occurrence, one that has happened many times before throughout mankind’s long history.

Those who naively believe that the continual expansion of artificial technology is going to enable us to escape this natural rising and falling are not going to be able to transition to a fresh vision of life on earth. In our experience this is done primarily by recognizing the importance of not relying on too much external technology. It is okay to have these things, but the question you must ask yourself is this: Can I survive when the grid is shut down? Can I maintain a calm state of mind and still feel secure for an extended period of time without modern conveniences, prepackaged food, city water, television, cell phones, internet, drugs…?

These are the things that must be addressed, especially during times of great change. It is imperative to understand that technology weakens us because as long as we’re relying on something outside of ourselves we are giving our power away. One must get clear about this. Great civilizations in the past learned this the hard way. There have always been advanced forms of technology. There are tablets depicting the evidence of electric batteries in ancient Egypt, drawings of flying machines inscribed on Mayan temples, evidence of advanced forms of medical surgery performed by primitive people and proof of nuclear radiation where sand turned to glass in India. But when earth changes inevitably came, those who survived had to do so without their technology intact. The bottom line is that you must begin to think and plan for this. Are you willing and able to ride through possible planetary changes with your heart open? Can you keep from freaking out when there are food and gasoline shortages, riots, chaos and panic happening in the street?

No one really knows for sure what changes are coming, but we have some hints. There are possibilities such as terrorist attacks, civil unrest, shutting down of the highways by the government, military takeover of cities through martial law, gun confiscation, forced inoculations or epidemics. Other possibilities include: tsunami’s, earthquakes, communication satellite failure due to massive solar flares, droughts, hurricanes, flooding, crop failures, colder temperatures in warm areas, hot temperatures in cold areas, land masses rising and falling, the slipping of the earth’s crust due to a physical pole shift, and the temporary drop of the electromagnetic field of the planet.

One’s individual choices, lifestyle, attitude and purpose largely determine whether or not they are going to be able to make it when changes occur. But beyond the issue of merely surviving is the real issue of waking up to what we really are. And if we can live our lives in a way that will facilitate and promote that kind of connection, then we have moved beyond basic survival into the realm of the Infinite, Eternal Presence. From there we see everything differently. We don’t see ourselves as separate, but instead, we feel part of a larger Cosmic Body, One Being. Life is no longer about doing time and waiting to die, going to heaven after death, or attaining favorable rebirth; life becomes all about being One with the Infinite, Eternal Presence.

Though our outer life and its circumstances will continue to shift and change, may we steadfastly dwell in the awareness of a Reality that does not change. Then time becomes meaningless because it’s always this moment, and we can relax in the profound awareness of the eternal, unchanging Source of everything. We’re no longer evolving toward anything.  We are simply being and doing whatever is next.  How peaceful to get to that place.

So it is useful to look at the outer expression of our lives and see what it is we really need to do to nurture and maintain this experience. Some of our most beloved, ancient spiritual brothers and sisters held the knowledge of the wisdom of living a simple, spiritual life. Some of them left clues, maps, inspiration and hope.  We found this information and now we want to share it with others who have the preconditions of heart and mind to value it and apply it to their lives.

So now, this leads us back to what man’s purpose is really all about from the perspective of the ancient people who went through such things before. It is this:

“Just live a simple life and be a simple person, not because it’s good or moral, but because if you go out there chasing after temporary stuff that doesn’t matter, your heart is going to clench. You’ll just get more confused and suffer disappointment.

“Life works when you don’t want anything other than the awareness of the Divine Presence…so just get your basic needs in order first so you can free up a lot of time and energy. Then you can focus that energy on being creative and having this profound experience of the Unity of all things. Let everything else go. Where your treasure is, so is your heart.”

That’s the ancient message. We sincerely hope that this essay has given you some food for thought. Feel free to contact us if you have any specific questions. Most of all consider what has been offered here and search within for the guidance you need to move toward a new way of living. We used these three wise questions to guide us in our quest for the truth about life on earth:

1.  Is it in harmony with nature?

2.  Is it in harmony with your inner intuition?

      3.  Is it in harmony with Ageless Wisdom, all the great teachings of the past?

                                                                                  - Professor Edmond Szekely

If anything that you are currently doing in your life does not align with these three questions, stop doing it, get it out of your life and begin to embrace the great teachings of the past from the ancient knowledge.  Choose a lifestyle of independent thinking and voluntary simplicity. Carry this ageless wisdom consciously in your mind and heart, live it, demonstrate it, cherish it and seek to pass it on to those who follow behind you.

We predict that in the next few years, living a modest lifestyle of independent, voluntary simplicity will be seen as “wise and responsible” while those who continue living it up in excessive, wasteful consumption will be looked down upon, ridiculed and thought of as greedy parasites who are not contributing to the health and peace of humanity and all of life on Planet Earth.

Let’s be wise and responsible now!
