HOW TO COOK PERFECT BASMATI BROWN RICE

Basmati Brown Rice is the best tasting, most aromatic (smells like popcorn when its cooking), nutritious rice we have found.  We eat a serving of it about 3 or 4 times a week.  And this is the best way that we have ever found to cook it:

1 cup Basmati Brown Rice

2 cups water

˝  teaspoon Celtic salt, or to taste (found at most health food stores)

The most efficient method we have discovered to cook the rice is to use a crockpot.  We have a medium sized crock pot and you will need a stainless steel bowl that will fit inside of the crockpot.

First, put about one inch of water in the crockpot.  Put the rice in the stainless bowl and wash it well and drain.  Put the salt and the two cups of water into the bowl of rice and place it in the crockpot, put the lid on, and turn the setting on high. (Do not cover the bowl of rice.)

That’s it!  Your perfect, moist, delicious rice will be ready in about two hours or so, depending on how your crockpot cooks.  When all the water is cooked out of the rice, it is done.

Sometimes, if we want the rice for in the morning, we put it on the night before with the setting on the crockpot on low.

To serve the rice, add a little organic butter, an herb or two, such as rosemary, oregano, basil, etc., maybe a few stir-fried onions, bell pepper and celery. (We always use our home made hot sauce for seasoning…see “Dark Ages Plague Recipe and Salad Dressing” on the site)   Along with a fresh garden salad, you have a meal!
